Monument Upgrade Photos
Things are truly changing. The old Monument seen here in this picture from last year was cracked from an impact of a car. A second car destroyed the right wing on the monument. The trees behind the monument were suffering from age as well. Here we are the second week in February and the old oxidized plaques have been reworked and remounted to a dynamic appearance. Click on the thumbnail to see the photo full size. Dark days don't do justice to the beautiful plaques and impact the Monument has made. Page is photo intensive and may take a bit to load in your browser. First are pictures of the median without the old trees. Phase 1 of the upgrade of the Ruskin Heights Tornado Memorial.
Here is a montage of the work while it was being done. Click on the tumb-nails to get a big view. United Sign has done a great job and here we see their workers putting the monument back together again.
Look at the plaque in detail. We are very pleased.
Monday February 20th the weather warmed up and the Ruskin Heights Tornado Memorial Tree Arbor signs were up. The conduit will be moved and rewired, so it will not interfere or distract from the Arbor side.
The trees were being planted on February 22. Three trees in front of Burke Elementary School and two on either side of Ruskin High School's sign. Five more were placed behind the Monument.
Trees in Bloom All 39 trees are planted and blooming.
